Massimo Giacon è nato a Padova, Italia, nel 1961. Come artista poliedrico principalmente attivo a Milano, divide il suo tempo tra le sue attività come fumettista, illustratore, designer, artista e musicista.
Fin dagli anni ‘80, Giacon è stato protagonista della scena del fumetto italiano presente su diverse riviste italiane come Frigidaire, Alter, Dolce Vita, Cyborg e Nova Express.
Nel 1985 ha iniziato la sua collaborazione con il guru del design Ettore Sottsass e in seguito ha creato e illustrato il graphic novel su di lui Ettore.
Il 1990 ha segnato l’inizio delle sue numerose mostre personali e collettive in Italia, Svizzera, America, Corea, Hong Kong, Russia, Canada, Grecia e Portogallo.
Dopo un decennio di attività musicali con diversi gruppi (Spirocheta Pergoli, I Nipoti del Faraone), ha pubblicato il suo primo album da solista, Horror Vacui (1996) e poi un secondo, La Città Ideale (2003).
Giacon ha realizzato progetti di alto profilo per Olivetti, Memphis, Artemide, Alessi, Swatch, Philips, Ritzenhoff, SuperEgo e Telecom.
Il suo lavoro nel design comprende ceramiche, porcellane, vetro, arazzi, tappeti, lampade e oggetti da cucina. Ha realizzato progetti per importanti mostre internazionali e ha lavorato a vari progetti televisivi. Ha collaborato con Alessandro Mendini, Matteo Thun e Sieger Design su vari progetti, ed è stato illustratore per pubblicità e riviste di moda (Romeo Gigli, Elle, Glamour). Giacon è noto per il suo progetto di ceramiche The Pop Will eat itself per SuperEgo Collections. La sua arte si estende anche ai video animati e ai video musicali. Tra i romanzi grafici più notevoli che ha illustrato (oltre a Ettore) ci sono Amami, Il Mondo Così Com’è, La Quarta Necessità, Ed è subito Serial (sui serial televisivi dal passato al presente) e Masticando Km di Rumore (su 100 concerti leggendari).
Attualmente continua a progettare oggetti di design per Alessi e altri brand, a inventare storie a fumetti ogni mese per la rivista Linus, e prosegue la sua attività performativa e artistica con varie gallerie. Giacon insegna presso l’Istituto Europeo di Design di Milano dal 1998.
Massimo Giacon was born in Padua, Italy in 1961. As a multifaceted artist primarily working in Milan, he divides his time between his pursuits as a cartoonist, illustrator, designer, fine artist and musician.
Since the early 80s, Giacon has been a revival comics mastermind featured in coveted Italian magazines such as Frigidaire, Alter, Dolce Vita, Cyborg and Nova Express.
In 1985 he began his collaboration with design guru Ettore Sottsass and would later go on to create and illustrate the well received book Ettore. 1990 was the start of his numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Switzerland, America, Korea, Hong Kong, Russia, Canada, Greece and Portugal. After a decade of musical activities with different groups (Spirocheta Pergoli, The Grandchildren of the Pharaoh) he released his first solo album Horror Vacui (1996) then a second The Ideal City (2003).
Giacon has produced high-profile projects for Olivetti, Memphis, Artemide, Alessi, Swatch, Philips, Ritzenhoff, SuperEgo and Telecom. His designs encompass ceramics, glass, tapestries, rugs, pottery and kitchen items. He has produced projects for major international exhibitions and has worked on various television projects. He has collaborated with Alessandro Mendini, Matteo Thun and Sieger Design on various projects, and illustrated for advertising, fellow designers as well as fashion magazines (Romeo Gigli, Elle, Glamour). Giacon is well known for his ceramics project The Pop Will eat itself for SuperEgo Collections. His artistry extends into animated videos as well as his own music videos. Notable graphic novels that he has illustrated include Amami, Il Mondo Così Com’è, La Quarta Necessita, Ed è subito Serial (about TV serials from the past to the present) and Masticando Km di Rumore (about 100 legendary live concerts).
While busy producing design objects and illustrating for Linus Magazine he continues his in-demand musical activities and performative-artistic collaborations with various galleries. Giacon teaches at the European Institute of Design in Milan.
